Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu has announced that President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation on Monday evening about further measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Ramaphosa was expected to provide an update on Sunday, but this was postponed by the presidency saying a meeting of the National Command Council was still ongoing.
In a Twitter post, Mthembu says they will inform the media and the nation of the exact time when Ramaphosa will make the address.
“At that stage the President would have finalized measures to be undertaken to mitigate impact of the virus to our people and the economy.”
On Sunday Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize announced that the number of Coronavirus cases in South Africa has risen to 274.
This is an increase of 34 from the 240 cases announced on Saturday.
