Thursday 20130718 – The subject of God Almighty is the most noble of all subjects. This should be the ultimate concern of all human beings. This series of discussions attempts to understand God The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful, according to the Islamic Doctrine.
Shaikh Umar Farooq Abdullah and Shaikh Hamza Yusuf, in their introduction to this incredible series, emphasised that the essence of knowledge is in the discovery of our Creator, Lord of all. Moreover, the importance of making our knowledge meaningful was the supreme legacy of Islamic civilisation and it remains our task today. They explained further that every religion is founded upon direct experience of Allah Almighty.
In this part, Sh Hamza discussed the Isra and the Me’raj experiences of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu`Alayhi Wa Sallam; the inner and outer Hijrah.
Many believe this journey was merely a physical experience. However, Muhammad Sallallahu`Alayhi Wa Sallam negated this perception when he said, “The real Muhaajir is the one who makes Hijrah from what Allah has prohibited him from,” and Allah has prohibited us from everything other than Himself. In this journey Almighty Allah opened the Ghaib or Unseen to His beloved Prophet Sallallahu`Alayhi Wa Sallam creating a clearer understanding of Almighty Allah’s Majesty. If Almighty Allah’s Unseen world were to be unveiled to ordinary mortals like you and I, we would surely become insane.
