The Bangladesh Muslim Society of South Africa has distributed more than seventy food parcels to Soweto residents on Saturday as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to leave people impoverished and struggling for food.

The initiative is part of Nelson Mandela Day and Women’s Day.

“Thank you to everybody for coming and thank you to Mrs. Bernice Swart member of parliament, Johannesburg City Council chairperson Mr. Thomas and thank you to Radio Islam for being here. This is Mandela Day and we are giving food parcels which can at least help one family for one month.”
