Child Killed in Deadly Shooting at California Office Building

At least four killed in shooting at an office building in the US city, police said, adding that the attacker injured and taken to hospital.

Police in California say that at least four people, including a child, have been shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire at an office building. One person was injured.

Al Jazeera reports that the attack took place at approximately 5:30pm local time on the upper floor of a small office building in the city of Orange.

According to police the armed assailant was shot by an officer when police and the suspect exchanged fire. He was taken to hospital. The attacker’s condition is unknown, nor has a motive been established yet.

The Orange Police Department said in a post on Facebook, “Officers arrived as shots were being fired and located multiple victims at the scene including fatalities. An officer-involved shooting occurred.”

Wednesday’s shooting follows in the wake of two other high-profile mass shootings in the United States earlier this month. 10 people were killed in a shooting at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado, on March 22. Further, the Boulder incident took place less than a week after a man shot and killed eight people, in an attack targeting Asians, at spas in Atlanta, Georgia.
