Grade 10 Girl Takes Her Own Life After she’s Bullied at School

Bullying in schools has been brought to the fore as a video of an incident in a Limpopo high school does the rounds.

In the video that has now gone viral, a grade 10 pupil, Lufuno Mavhungo, from Mbilwi Secondary is being smacked around by another pupil on the school grounds. The attacker is brutal and relentless, while Lufuno fails to fight back, simply holding up her arms to protect her face from the blows.

Lufuno subsequently committed suicide on Monday afternoon and #JusticeForLufuno trended for hours on Twitter.

The Department of Education in Limpopo confirmed the incident took place at the school on Monday, and are probing the incident.

No comment has been released by either the parents or the school.

On Tuesday, students gathered in front of the school demanding justice.

Twitter users are angry at the abuse and subsequent suicide.

The incident lays bare the mental effects of bullying in kids, a matter that needs to be seriously dealt with by both parents and schools.

This is a developing story, more to follow.
