The Presidency has announced that Mineral Resource’s Minister Gwede Mantashe has been admitted to hospital after testing positive for COVID-19.

Mantashe and his wife Nolwandle Mantashe tested positive for the virus last week which necessitated them to self-quarantine.

The Presidency says Mantashe decided to be admitted to hospital on the advice of his family doctor for better medical attention and monitoring.

Nolwndle will continue to self-quarantine at their home.

The Presidency says it will continue to give the Mantashe family all the support they need during this time and have  wished both the Minister and Nolwandle a speedy recovery.
