The Jamiatual Ulama South Africa Lenasia branch has appealed to the Muslim community to open their hearts with donations to assist in the renovations of its premises on Rose Avenue in Lenasia which is expected to cost about R 3.4 million.

The organization offers various services to the community including welfare, counselling, da’wah and burial services which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

As the country battles the second wave of the Coronavirus, the Jamiat says it also needs to upgrade its facilities to comply with the Health Departments protocols to perform COVID-19 mayyits.

Speaking to Radio Islam, the Jamiat’s Ml Yusuf Wadee says they need the public’s support to complete the new facilities.

“The ghusal and kaffan area will be rebuilt in compliance with the government regulations. There are a host of regulations which the Health Department wants. Until now they were giving us a temporary certificate of compliance, but they said now we need to get the place under full compliance which will have a cold room for mayyits to be stored, a ladies and men’s section and wudhu and salah facilities.”

Ml Wadee also indicated that Jamiat performs all COVID-19 burials with the generous support of the Saaberie Chishty Society.

“We did quite a few even in the last week, but we don’t do them here. We do them in conjunction with Aboo Bakr Sayed and the team that does COVID, it’s all done at Avalon Qabrastan, the facility is there. There is a dedicated team that we call on. The team that is committed to COVID mayyits, help all the organizations whether it’s Saaberie Chishty, Jamiat. They always tireless serving the Ummah.”

Ml Wadee says there is tremendous virtue in the hadith about assisting in the performing of ghusal and burials for those who have passed away.

“To establish a place like that is like sawaab-e-jaariah whoever contributes towards it, it will be a perpetual reward for them. So, it’s an opportunity for everyone even if it’s a small amount.”

If you like to make a contribution towards the project, contact the Jamiat on (011) 852,7140 or visit them in Cuckoo Avenue in Lenasia, next door to Radio Islam International studios.
