Lenasia police are investigating a case of escape from the lawful custody after two suspects escaped from the Lenasia police station.

It’s understood police were escorting the criminals from the Lenasia Magistrates Court back to the police station and when the duo fled from custody.

The police’s Bafana Ndimande say they managed to rearrest one escapee.

“The officer opened a cell gate and two other accused males, who were already in the cells, overpowered him and forced their way out. One accused male was armed with a sharp object and attempted to stab the officer but failed. The police managed to arrest the one male and the other one is still at large.”

Nadimande has appealed to the community to assist police with the information that may lead to the arrest of the other male known as Muzi Nhlalo Dlamini who was charged for robbery at the Ennerdale Police Station.
