The Actonville community in Benoni has been left heartbroken following the passing of Masjid Sayyidina Bilaal’s Muezzin.

Marhoom Abdul Karim who hails from Malawi passed away on Monday.

He featured in the Muezzin’s tribute during Radio Islam’s Masjid awards last year.

According to reports, hundreds of Malawi nationals paid tribute to Marhoom Abdul Karim at the masjid yesterday while his ablution was being performed.

Marhoom Abdul Karim’s passing is a big shock to the musallee’s including the broader Malawi community as he was always recognised as a leading figure who took responsibility of their needs and welfare.

Radio Islam’s Ml Sulaimaan Ravat said: “May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdous. May Allah make it easy for his family. May Allah grant us the ability to learn the necessary lessons from the great services that he rendered to the community.”
