Delhi based author and columnist Syed Ubaidur Rahman Indian Muslims have betrayed Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation.

In an article published on Sify News, Ubaidur Rahman writes as the world celebrates Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, the community with whom he enjoyed great relations, seems to have forgotten him.

Rahman says it would have been unthinkable for anyone to believe that Muslims will forget their benefactor and protector in a divided India.

“In fact Mahatma Gandhi had a very long standing relationship with Muslims and Muslim leaders. Not to talk about his relationship with Ml Abdul Qalam Azad, Ml Husain Ahmed Madani, Dr Mukhtar Ansari and Hakim Ajmal khan.”

He says Gandhi even invited to South Africa by a Guajarati Muslim.

“He began his career in South Africa thanks to a Muslim businessman and he was Dada Abdullah. In fact he was invited to practice in South Africa by a Guajarati Muslim Dada Abdullah.”

Ubaidur Rahman says Shaikhul Hind Mahmud Hasan, the man behind Reshmir Rumal Tehrik following his release from Malta, asked Muslims to follow Gandhi and accept him as their leader.
