A Gaza based journalist says the Israeli occupation forces have shown no mercy to even women and children targeting a number of homes in Gaza in the latest attack on the most densely populated area in the world.

Akram al-Sattari was speaking to Radio Islam about the attack on Gaza by Israel.

A night of heavy bombardment on the Gaza Strip continued into Wednesday morning as Israeli forces launched intensive raids on various locations across the besieged coastal territory.

Gaza’s Health Ministry says the overall death toll since the latest offensive began stood at 35, including 12 children while 233 others have been wounded.

Five Israelis have also been killed after 1,500 rockets were fired from Gaza towards various locations in Israel by the Palestinian resistance.

Al-Sattari says Palestinians have the right to defend themselves and to protect Masjid Al-Aqsa, Islam’s third holiest site from attacks by Israeli occupation forces.

“The Palestinian resistance in Gaza said they’ll not stand still watching Masjid Al-Aqsa being desecrated and watching the people of Jerusalem and of Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood being also confiscated. They gave the Israeli occupation an ultimatum of around two hours to stop the [Ill]-treatment of the Palestinians.”

Al-Sattari says Israel targets specific areas and people with the intention of inflicting pain rather than the pain that has been caused to the Palestinians.

“In the very beginning of those attacks, they targeted and killed ten people. There is a very shocking video showing that the people who were killed by that aerial attack were a mother and her child, a father and his two children, three children who were on their way and one mother who was going with her child to get them their Eid clothes. So the massacre was something horrific and shocking.”

The current escalations is the highest fighting since 2014 and shows no signs of slowing down.
