Action SA leader Herman Mashba says the African National Congress (ANC) is not a political party but rather a criminal enterprise.

Mashaba was speaking to Radio Islam on Tuesday about his aspirations for the upcoming local government elections in October.

The former Johannesburg Mayor is already travelling around the country to gain votes for the elections.

Although there is no love lost between Mashaba and the Democratic Alliance (DA), he says he is willing to join forces with his former party to help oust the ANC, should it not get a clear majority in the upcoming elections.

“I am a God-fearing person. There is no way you can expect me to associate with criminal enterprises. The ANC as far as I am concerned is not a political party, it’s a criminal enterprise. Therefore, I will go into a coalition with political parties not with criminal enterprises.”

Mashaba says political parties who want the local government elections postponed are scared.

“They are hell-bent scared to go to the elections. We are ready and no one is going to postpone this election otherwise then we’ll have to go to the highest courts.”

Mashaba says there are a number of dysfunctional municipalities in the country including the city of Johannesburg, adding that it is being run by someone who is supposed to be in jail.
