While many couples make requests from each other, have you ever made a request for dua from your spouse?

This was the beautiful topic of discussion by esteemed scholar Mufti Yusuf Moosagie on Radio Islam on Tuesday.

Couples normally request many things from each other including material possessions, food, home renovations and even travel among other requests.

However, have we forgotten that the power of dua and the acceptance of dua by Allah can yield requests beyond any human comprehension?

Mufti Moosagie says the power of dua is beyond imagination.

“Sayyidah Aisha (R.A) narrates that when Nabi (saw) was angry with her, he used to place his hand on her shoulder and make dua: ‘Oh Allah forgive her for her wrong actions, remove the anger from her heart and grant her refuge from the misguidance of trials.”

Mufti Moosagie says Sayyidah Aisha (R.A) once noticed Nabi (SAW) in a pleasant mood and requested dua from him.

“Nabi (SAW) said: ‘Oh Allah forgive Aisha, her past sins and present sins as well as those done openly and hiddenly.’ When “Sayyidah Aisha heard this dua, she laughed out of joy, she smiled, she was ecstatic to the extent that her head fell into her lap. Nabi (saw) asked her, ‘has my dua made you happy,’ and she replied ‘why not, why should your dua not make me happy’ and Nabi (saw) said ‘by Allah this is the dua for my Ummah with every salaah.’”

Mufti Moosagie says making dua for your spouse will make him or her feel appreciated.
