The revamped Masjid Uthmaan Ghani in Lenasia South has been officially reopened.

The event on Thursday was attended by the Lenasia South Muslim community including a dignitary of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia, Mohammad Ashour who represented the ambassador Sultan al Angari.

Esteemed Islamic scholar and Radio Islam presenter Ml Sulaimaan Ravat MC’d the reopening, sharing important advices about the role of Masaajid in communities and the steadfastness in maintaining our salaah.

The keynote address was rendered by none other than renowned Islamic scholar Ml Sulaiman Moola who told the gathering that the first lecture in his beautiful and illustrious career was in Lenasia South in 1992, when he was a second-year student.

Ashour wished the Muslim community well over the blessed month of Ramadan and shared Saudi Arabia’s sentiments on the reopening of Masjid Uthmaan Ghani.

“After I looked at the mosque and what it offers and in my name and in the name of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabi, we thank you so much for the great effort to the mosque and taking care of it means may Allah the Almighty bless you and reward you.”

Ml Sulaimaan Ravat says like our bodies require nourishment, the nourishment of the soul and the nourishment of the spiritual enhancement is in the masjid and salaah.

“A masjid will bring together people from different ethnic, cultural, racial and ideological backgrounds. We will have our differences, differing viewpoints, but the masjid should never be a point where we now start fragmenting, where division is sown, where we show the worst of us. Whatever our respective views, preferences, inclinations, the masjid is the one place where we need to leave all of that aside and find common ground. It’s meant to unite us.”

Ml Sulaiman Moola says Islam is a beautiful and simple religion and commended the Lenasia South Muslim community for their generosity for refurbishing the house of Allah.

“I compliment the entire congregation, and may Allah bless you, it’s so nice, you created a beautiful facility. Allah reward the donors from far and wide. Someone once said, it’s not how much of Allah’s wealth you going to give, it’s how much of Allah’s wealth you are keeping for yourself. Whatever you gave, this is what will reap for you that is good.”

The Lenasia South Muslim Association also paid tribute to the Imam of Masjid Uthmaan Ghani Ml Shabir Khan and the Muezzin Moosa Cassim who has rendered over thirty years of service to the masjid.

The Central Islamic Trust (CIT) also handed over the title deeds of the masjid to the LSMA saying Masjid Uthmaan Ghani now belongs to the Muslim community of Lenasia South.
