Malema Calls for Booze Ban Over Easter Weekend & Non-European COVID-19 Vaccines

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says President Cyril Ramaphosa must ban alcohol during the Easter holidays to stop the country experiencing a third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Malema was addressing the media on Tuesday on the outcome of the party’s meeting held over the weekend.

Ramaphosa will address the nation at 7:30pm on Tuesday  on developments in the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The address follows meetings in recent days of the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC), the President’s Coordinating Council (PCC) and Cabinet.

Malema says no alcohol must be permitted during the Easter weekend.

“The biggest problem here is alcohol. People have gone crazy about alcohol, we must close alcohol for Easter weekend, then half of our problems are done. No accidents, no spread of Coronavirus because this alcohol is a big problem.”

Malema says Ramaphosa must also stop with “European” Coronavirus vaccines.

“He’s pushing us into getting European vaccine and he doesn’t want other countries to provide vaccine here in South Africa. Russia has applied here by SAHPRA for the Sputnik, they are refusing Russia’s Sputnik. China has applied there, they are refusing Chinse vaccine. Why? We must get Johnson and Johnson because of Bill Gates. We are not puppets of Bill Gates.”

Malema says South Africans want to be vaccinated but there is no vaccination roll-out plan, adding that Ramaphosa must buy the vaccine and vaccinate people otherwise they will be taking to the streets to protest.
