One Killed as Multiple Rockets hit Kabul

At least one person was killed, and two others wounded when a barrage of rockets struck Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, on Saturday morning.

Al Jazeera reports that this had been the second such attack to rock the city in less than a month. Roughly three weeks ago, 23 rockets hit Kabul, killing eight civilians.

Interior ministry spokesman Tariq Arian said, “This morning, 10 rockets were fired from the Labe Jar neighborhood of Kabul.” He added that three rockets landed near Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport and seven in residential areas, killing a civilian and wounding two others.

According to Al Jazeera, the rockets were fired from a vehicle parked on the periphery of the city. A Kam Air aircraft was slightly damaged when the compound of Kabul airport was hit. The plane was empty, and no one was hurt.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Despite the Taliban and the Afghan government holding peace talks in Qatar since September, deadly attacks have continued to be inflicted on Kabul in recent months.
