Radio Islam Home Remedies for Flu (13.06.19)

COUGH HOME REMEDY :-
4 tblsps lemon juice
2 tblsp apple cider vinegar
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp bicarb
4 tblsp honey
Make mixture
Adults can have 1 tblsp
Kids 1 tsp
Or alternatively mix 1 tbsp with warm water and drink.
The above remedy is ideal for coughs… bronchitis and pneumonia

Mixture of lemon, cinnamon and honey

Another effective home remedy for common cold and cough is a mixture of lemon, cinnamon and honey. This syrup effectively cures cold and cough.

How to make the syrup: In half spoon of honey, add a few drop of lemon and a pinch of cinnamon. Have this syrup twice a day to cure common cold and cough.
Luke-warm water

Drink luke-warm water frequently as it helps in fighting against common cold, cough and sore throat. Warm water reduces inflammation in the throat and helps in replenishing the fluids and infection out of the body.

Milk and turmeric

An essential ingredient found in almost all Indian kitchens, turmeric has a strong antioxidant which helps in treating many health problems. Turmeric mixed in warm milk is a popular and effective way to fight against cold and cough. Drinking a glass of warm turmeric milk before sleeping helps in faster recovery from cold and cough.

Gargle with salt-water

This is an age-old therapy that effectively treats cough and cold. Adding turmeric in this salt-water is also beneficial.
Jaggery/ghor solution
Boil water with black pepper, cumin and jaggery to it. Consume this solution when warm and it will give you relief from chest congestionSore throat, colds, flu and sinusitis :-
Drink turmeric milk :
Take about a teaspoonful of turmeric powder, a teaspoon full of grated fresh ginger (or equivalent of dried ginger powder), and a pinch of ground black pepper, honey or sugar to taste, and put it into about half a cup of water and bring to a boil. Then add about half a cup of milk, heat to just below boiling point, and drink the mixture slowly, while hot.

Onion Remedy
The presence of healing sulfur in onion makes it an excellent remedy for dry, chronic cough. A powerful curative syrup for dry cough can be made by mixing 1 tsp of honey and 1 tsp of raw onion juice and letting this mix stand for about 4 hours. Taking this syrup three times a day can help in getting rid of this chronic problem. Dry cough can also be cured by drinking warm onion broth.
The above home remedies for dry cough can surely offer great relief. However, for persistent cough and presence of other symptoms or fever, it is best to seek medical opinion.
Ginger: Ginger is a widely known remedy to treat cold and cough naturally.
This root is enriched with twelve antiviral components which help in fighting the viruses causing cold and cough. It is a great remedy to treat all the symptoms of cold like sore throat, coughing or swelling of the mucous membranes. Having drinks made with ginger will not only stop the dripping nose but also help in clearing the respiratory tract of the phlegm.
• Regular Ginger Tea: You can add some crushed ginger to your regular tea to cure cold and cough symptoms.
• Ayurvedic Ginger Tea: You can add some crushed pieces of ginger in a glass of hot water. Let the ginger sit for about 10 minutes. Strain the water and add some honey and lemon to the strained water.
• Ginger Steam: You can either add a drop of ginger oil or add a few ginger slices in a bowl of hot water. Inhale the steam coming out of this solution.
• Honey Ginger: Add finely crushed ginger in a spoonful of honey. Heat the spoon a bit so that the extract of the ginger juice gets mixed with honey.

 

Black Pepper
For productive cough, black pepper is the simplest home remedy. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper with desi ghee and have it on a full stomach.

There’s an excellent home-made rub that you could make yourself, and you will need the following items:
1 bottle of Vicks
1 bottle of Vaseline
1 tin of zambuk.
1 small bottle of eucalyptus oil – ½ of it
1 small bottle camphorated oil – ½ of it
Crushed ajmo can also be added to this mixture and this is optional.

Melt all these ingredients together in a small pot, and when slightly cool, bottle and use on babies over 6 months, children and adults.

Pineapple Juice For Cough
1 cup pineapple juice
1 ½ tablespoons honey
A pinch of salt
A pinch of black pepper powder
Mix the honey and spices with the pineapple juice.
Drink one-fourth cup of this.
Store the rest in the refrigerator.
Drink this thrice a day.
Honey And Lemon For Cough
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
A cup of hot water
Add the honey to hot water and mix well.
Add the lemon juice and stir well. Drink this concoction.
Have this mixture once in the morning and once at night

Ginger, Peppermint, And Honey For Cough
3 tablespoons chopped ginger
1 tablespoon dried peppermint
1 cup honey
4 cups water
Take the water in a pan and add the ginger and peppermint to it.
Boil this mixture until it reduces to half of its original volume.
Let it cool down. Add the honey to it and mix well.
Take a tablespoon of this herbal blend.
The rest of the mixture can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about three weeks.
Have this herbal remedy once in every 3-4 hours.

Thyme For Cough
1 teaspoon thyme leaves
A cup of water
Boil the thyme leaves in water for a few minutes until the water reduces to half the amount.
Sip this liquid.
Have this liquid once or twice a day.
Black pepper
1 teaspoon ground black pepper (preferably freshly ground)
2 tablespoons honey
A cup of hot water
To the hot water, add the black pepper powder and honey.
Cover the cup and let this steep for 10-15 minutes.
Drink this tea.
Drink 1-2 cups every day.
