Ramaphosa to Address the Nation on Monday in Response to COVID-19 in SA

President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation on Monday evening, on developments in relation to the country’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement, the presidency says the address follows meetings on Sunday of the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC), the President’s Coordinating Council (PCC), and a special sitting of Cabinet.

The Presidency says the exact time of Ramaphosa’s address will be announced on Monday.

Meanwhile, more than 7,800 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the latest 24-hour cycle, pushing the country’s total case load to over 852,000.

While 154 more people have died and this has placed the country’s national death toll at more than 23,000.

The recovery stands at 89.1% meaning that more than 760,000 have recuperated from the pandemic.
