SA COVID-19 Deaths Rise to 10,751, Infections Increase to 566,109

The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 566,109.

This is an increase of 2,511 from Monday’s announcement.

The number of deaths has also increased by 130 bringing the total to 10,751.

Gauteng has the most infections with 194,093 followed by Western Cape at 100,316 Eastern Cape at 82,715, KwaZulu-Natal 100,494 Free State 29,209, North West 22,031, Mpumalanga 19,533, Limpopo 10,807, Northern Cape 6,861 and unallocated infections 50.

The total number of recoveries to date is 426,125 which translates to a recovery rate of 75%.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 3,278,977 this is an increase of 11,483 which were done in the last 24 hours.

“Regrettably we report 130 new COVID-19 related deaths: 20 from Eastern Cape, 35 from Gauteng, 30 from KwaZulu Natal, 20 from North West, 25 from Western Cape. This brings the cumulative total of reported COVID-19 related deaths to 10,751.

Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families of those who have succumbed to the pandemic.
