Shiraz Mohamed’s Former Wife Dispels Rumour’s About his Death

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 12-06-2017

The former wife of Shiraz Mohamed has dispelled rumours that he may have been killed after being kidnapped in Syria.

Mohamed was abducted near the border with Turkey almost six months ago as he was returning home after accompanying the Gift of the Givers on a humanitarian mission.

No group has claimed responsibility for his kidnapping nor has a ransom been demanded.

Shaaziya Brijlal says there is hope that Mohamed is still alive.

“I understand there are possibilities of that, but we have to be positive, we can’t give up hope, we can’t give up on him, I won’t and I know his friends and his loved ones and his family won’t either.”

Brijlal says she wants to know what really happened to Mohamed.

“There has been nothing new its just worries me Shiraz seems to have gone off the grid completely. I worry that there is so little information if nothing at all coming from the Gift of Givers.”

Meanwhile The South African National Editors’ Forum (Sanef) has appealed to the South African and Syrian governments to secure a safe release of Mohamed.

Sanef says it’s concerned about the silence from the International Relations Department and other agencies on Mohamed’s disappearance.
